Sony Sets Writer For Spider-man 5 and 6

Source: Variety

Variety reports that Sony Pictures has hired screenwriter James Vanderbilt to write the screenplay for Spider-Man 5 and Spider-Man 6.

Vanderbilt was the first writer on "Spider-Man 4. Director Sam Raimi brought on "Rabbit Hole" playwright David Lindsay-Abaire to rewrite his script, and Gary Ross is now rewriting that script.

The article adds that Raimi didn't embrace all of Vanderbilt's ideas, but execs at Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios have. Vanderbilt has been hired to pen the fifth and sixth movies, which have an interconnected storyline.

Spider-man 4 is expected to go into production early next year. It is unclear whether Sam Raimi, Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst will be returning.

Marvel And Sony Announce Spider-man 4 Release Date

SuperheroHype.com

2011 will be a big year for Marvel fans. Marvel has confirmed that Sony Pictures Entertainment will release Spider-man 4 on May 6, 2011. No word if director Sam Raimi or any of the cast and crew will be returning. Marvel Studios has also changed the release dates for Thor and The First Avengerr: Captain America, with new release dates of June 17, 2011 and July 22, 2011.

No Spec Spidey Movies? Hmmm....

Reviews are coming out for Volumes 3 and 4 for the Spectacular Spider-man, and it looks like Sony decided not to edit the epioses into a movie. I must say, I am dissipointed in this. I really liked what they did with Volume 1. Now there's really point in buying them since a season set is expected for later this year. Lame Sony, lame.
